7 Summer Essentials for Men
Although we’re still in the thick of COVID, a lot of places have lifted their heavy restrictions on being out. And whether you’re having Covid parties or still going to work everyday , you should be doing it in style so It’s my job to provide you with the best accessories to keep you looking good this summer .
Hat - first up on the list is a hat. Personally I say that you should opt for something with a wide brim like a fedora but any hat will suffice. You just need something to protect your face and head from the harsh sun rays. You can literally find a hat at any of your favorite fast fashion stores so you don’t have to worry about breaking the bank.
Sunglasses- next up on the list at #2 is you guessed it, sunglasses! You can’t have summer with out them. From a classic aviator or wayfarer to your more stylish round pair, you won’t have a problem finding a pair that fits your face shape. Short sleeve polos/button downs- next up on the list is a no brainer and that’s short sleeve polos and button downs. It’s also a nice alternative to your old faithful oxford shirt. Now here’s a pro tip that may be a little controversial. (Zoom frame in for dramatic effective) come closer, wear longer sleeves in the summer ! What?! Lol yes bro! So my grandfather worked on a farm and it wore long pants and shirts year round and here’s why, the sleeves protected his skin from the sun and actually helped keep him cool. You’re probably wondering how that’s possible which leads me to tip number 4.
Wear proper summer fabrics- during the warmer months you should be opting for fabrics like cotton, linen, or seersucker to help keep you cool. Now my grandfather wasn’t outside in some linen pants but this cotton uniforms keep him cool which being outside all day. You can find these fabrics in your favorite shirts, trousers and even underwear LOL
White sneakers - at this point, if you don’t own a pair of minimal white sneakers you’re doing it wrong brother! There are way too many styles to choose from. You got Common Projects, New Republic, Koio, Beckett Simonon and probably a much more that I forgot! Hell even amazon has their own version of a minimal white sneaker. If you don’t own a pair, go grab a pair. They literally go with every outfit you can create ! And they’re worth the investment bc they’ll last you all year long.
Hand lotion- now I’ve watched a lot of summer essential videos and a lot of people left this one and the next one off their lists. And that’s lotion! Now, this one isn’t just for my brothers ✊🏾 but also for our Caucasian brethren as well cause y’all be ashy as hell too. Elbows look like they been dipped in baby powder LOL ! Now if you’re offended then I’m glad! Cus don’t nobody wanna see ya ashy elbows, knees or heels! In case you’re wondering, they make lotion specifically for men and I believe you need to invest it immediately!
Cap stick with UV protection- moving along to our final tip! And again this was missing from a lot of lists but it’s chap stick! And no I’m no referring to the cheap brand chap stick! I’m talking about something that’s actually going to moisturize your lips! I personally use Okeefes bc it’s great! It’s unscented but it provides my lips with the moister they need throughout the day AND the most important part is it has SPF protection to keep my lips safe from the sun. Did you know that the sun can cause you to have a cold sore break out! (Show pic of person saying hell nah) yea bro it’s true and that ain’t cool so Um yea protect yourself!
Before y’all say I forgot something, I know I didn’t add deodorant to my list! Yo musty ass should be wearing it year round anyway!
