Travel Essentials All Men Need
Did you know that for $85 you can sign up for TSA precheck which allows you to keep your shoes on while going through airport security and it’s good for 5 years! So you get to skip the hassle of long lines and taking your shoes off for only $85 ! Now although that’s not a tangible accessory, that’s still something that every man needs to invest in.
Having something to store all of your toiletry items in is key and that’s where a good Dopp kit comes in. A Dopp kit is a great place to store all of your items and ensure nothing wastes on your clothes in your suitcase. Most places sell them for fairly cheap but if you’re look for something more sturdy,
Portable steamer - at the beginning of 2020 I went to style conference called menfluentfial in Atlanta and of course I had to take my suits. I was staying with a friend at an Airbnb and didn’t know if they’d have an iron or not so I decided to buy a portable steamer. This thing has come in handy so many times. It was only like $30 and it was a great investment. It fits in your carry-on so you can take it with you anywhere.
Lint roller - we’ve all been caught out in public with linty clothes on ! It’s almost inevitable. But you my friend don’t have to be outchea bad while you’re traveling ! You can grab one at your local dollar store. They’re inexpensive and it keeps your outfit lint free.
Versatile shoes (loafer or white sneaker) for this next tip I would say take both if you can. Wear the loafers to the airport so you can easily take them on while going through security (if you haven’t copped the TSA precheck) and have the white shoes as an outfit option. Both shoes can basically go with everything but if it’s a business trip and you already have a dressier shoe in your bag, just opt for the white shoes. You may want to do some sightseeing and they’ll be the most comfortable option.
Digital scale - and not the one used for drugs!! But seriously, having a digital scale is a great because it shows you that you running out! Yo bag too damn heavy and now you gotta pay an extra $100 at the gate. So this actually happened to me when I went to NYC for my 30th bday. My girl and I had to layer our coats so we didn’t get charged smh and what’s wild is is that we didn’t even buy any clothes. Idk what the hell happened anyway…
Portable charger - I’ve talked about having a portable charge before in a give guide because it’s such a practical item. I don’t know about you guys but it seems like when I’m out of town, all my phone wanna do it die. Having this portable charger well this specific one is my girls, but having this keeps my phone charged in case I end up somewhere I’m not supposed to, I can call for help!
Wireless headphones (never fails crying kid) it never fails that I’m sitting beside either the crying baby OR the crying puppy. So I make sure that no matter what I keep my wireless headphones with me. They don’t necessarily have to be wireless, but we all know that the cords get all tangled in your pocket they’re just in the way. My go to is obviously my Apple headphones but beats just released a new wireless option that works for Apple and android so that’s something to look into as well.
Small umbrella (never know when it’s going to rain) talk about Houston in most places, the weather can be very unpredictable and you don’t want to get caught with ya good clothes on in the rain. Do yourself a favor and pack a small umbrella. You can get the mini ones that work even better when it comes to packing but it’s only big enough for one person. Umbrellas work year round, and it beats carrying around a jacket everywhere you go especially if it’s the summer time and you don’t actually need or want to wear one. I’ll be sure to leave a link to the one I use below.
Shower shoes (fungus) this next tip should have probably been number one because it’s extremely important. So make sure you lean in, like come here bro… get some shower shoes! Brother, we already don’t be taking care of our feet the way we should and you definitely don’t need to add foot fungus to the mix. Although the rooms and showers get cleaned, you still need to take that extra precaution and bring shower shoes on the trip with you. They don’t need to be expensive. You can find some cheap black thong sandals at Walmart and use them. Not only are they great for the shower, but they’re also great for just walking around the room, so you have NO idea what’s on that hotel floor.
